Cherry Creek School District – PSAT Cancellation
By Scott Moser | October 31, 2019
This week’s unseasonably severe weather has impacted many students, including those in the Cherry Creek School District, who were anticipating taking the PSAT/NMSQT this week. Due to test security concerns, it is not possible to reschedule the PSAT outside of the single “alternate” test date. This year’s regular PSAT test dates were scheduled for October 16th and October 19th, but Cherry Creek and some other school districts opted for the alternate test date due to a conflict with Fall Break. Unfortunately, the inclement weather led to school cancellations that affected some students.
For those who were taking the test as practice for the SAT, there is no recourse through the College Board, which will not be offering a make-up option. Students wishing to take a full PSAT or SAT for practice prior to the real exam can contact us at (720) 606-6622. Moser is offering a proctored practice test that is open to all students on November 30th. Interested students can register here for the practice test.
For those who were hoping to qualify for National Merit, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation is offering an alternative. Schools will be allowed to apply on students’ behalf to use an official SAT score from tests administered from November 2019 through June 2020 as a stand-in for National Merit Qualification. This opportunity is only open to 11th graders and only on National Testing Dates—importantly, the Colorado statewide SAT offered in April does not qualify.
If you have questions about what the cancellation of the PSAT/NMSQT means for your student, either for practice, evaluation, or National Merit, please contact our Founder and President Scott Moser at (720) 605-6622 or via email at scott@mosereducational.com. We will be happy to discuss your student’s situation and offer advice.
