Applying to college is an exhausting process fraught with a seemingly endless number of decisions. To create an outstanding application, you need to take advantage of every opportunity you’re given. One opportunity for SAT takers is to take advantage of The College Board’s policy known as SAT Score Choice.

Score Choice allows some optionality is reporting official SAT scores to colleges. Through a student’s College Board account, you are given the choice to decide which of your official SAT score reports you want sent to colleges. This option relieves some of the anxiety around always performing at your best since it allows you to withhold certain scores from schools.

Score Choice is only applicable if you take the test multiple times. However, virtually all students do so. But, you should know you cannot choose to send individual section scores (i.e., Math or Evidence-Based Reading & Writing). You can only choose which tests dates you want to report. Moreover, Score Choice applies to SAT Subject Tests too.

Unfortunately, not all colleges participate in Score Choice. Each school has its own set of policies when it comes to reporting SAT and ACT test scores: Some “super score”, some request your highest score from a single exam, and still others request scores from every test taken (although the latter is very rare). So, it’s important to check each college’s policy via the college’s admissions website.

Score Choice may or may not play a role in your college admissions process. To discuss the reporting of college entrance exam scores to colleges further, please contact our team at (720) 605-6622 or via email at info@mosereducational.com.
